As a kid, I was not a fan of Halloween. Perhaps because my brother and I were always made to match at Halloween (Little Bo Peep and her sheep, Peter Pan and Hook, Prince and Princess - cue loving eye roll to mom) or maybe because it always seemed to eclipse my October birthday at school and with friends. Plus, Halloween was always scary, too cold for a costume without a coat over it and I hate the color orange. I also don’t really like pumpkin.
Now that I’m a mom, I am more excited about the holiday than I ever expected I would be. Watching the little kids in the neighborhood cheerfully decorate their houses with faux spider webs and listening to the seemingly endless dialog about costume choices (is it me or does this seem to be a year-round topic?) - it all makes me excited to be the parent of my own candy-collecting pumpkin.
We also have a special event to look forward to this year: every other year, the Jefferson University Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery hosts a Halloween Reunion Parade for all their graduates so the kids can see the nurses and doctors who helped care for them during their first weeks of life. We are SUPER excited to see our Jefferson NICN family and to show them how far Daisy has come since they helped us love her back to health. Given that we have a momentous occasion to dress up for, I have been scouring the internet for the best toddler costumes and thought I’d share some of my favorites with you.
